Merrimack Ales News
We’re excited to be pouring at the annual Mass Fermentational event on Saturday, 9/16. You can check the website for details: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/mass-fermentational-tickets-35943787837
We’ll be there alongside over 50 of our fellow breweries, and sampling some of our newest brews, including our reminder to you all that it’s still summer, Blackberry Wheat, and a few beers that will help you transition from warm weather to cold.
Hope to see you there!
The Mass ABCC issued an advisory this week, updating what’s allowed for growler fills here in Massachusetts. The link to that advisory is here (in case you dig reading that stuff):
With these changes, we’ve updated our growler policy to help make things easy & smooth so all y’all have a good experience when you visit us. So effective today, May 26, 2017, our growler policy is:
We will continue to sell and fill, or refill Merrimack Ales branded 64 oz. and 32 oz. growlers (squealers).
We will fill clean, dry, blank 64 oz. or 32 oz. growlers.
We reserve the right not to fill dirty or foul smelling glassware.
We will not peel labels off other growlers.
If your growler is a size other than 32 or 64 oz., we likely won’t fill it as we will not have price points for odd sizes.

Last week we had the opportunity to work with the UMass Lowell office for Toxics Reduction and Radical Waters from South Africa to test an alternate process for cleaning and sanitizing our brewing equipment. This process has been used for some time at places like SABMiller in the bottling part of the process, but never in the brew kettles or fermenters.
The process worked with only a few minor adjustments! Now we wait for the final analysis and report to see what’s next.
It… really is great to be able to work on something that will help the environment and also be a big improvement for employee safety. Also very cool to get all sciency, testing hypotheses and all that. Cheers!
We received our final permits and certificates from the city folks today! After a lot of work to build the brewery we can now get this thing humming. Look for updates as we get our beers into local shops. We’ll be posting additional hours this week for bottle sales and in the very near future…growlers. Woo Hoo!
The air is quiet on this blue-sky and sunny Saturday morning, filled only with the faint buzz of an electrical generator locked behind a chain-link fence. Ninety-two Bolt Street is the dead-last spot on a dead-end. Rolling up to a beaten parking lot marred with faded yellow lines, spider web cracks and a handful of dated sedans, the brick factory building it surrounds seems lonely and abandoned… Go to Article
